I quit smoking cigarettes 3 weeks ago and I have been a smoker for about 5 years. I quit pretty easily and cold turkey, I experienced normal withdrawal symptoms and then felt great until around the second week.
I began experiencing heart palpitations and honestly believed i was going insane, dizzy, everything was blurry, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder, which is something i suffered slightly when going through puberty years ago, but now at 19, I have not had panic attacks until now.
I smoke marijuana and drink alcohol, but these have never brought up any anxiety related feelings, and I always use in moderation.
Anxiety is related to an overactive amygdala, is it possible that quitting cigarette smoking caused the amygdala to become overactive?
